However, knowing the difference between a progressive illness and an emergency is critical. Sometimes, a pet emergency is not as obvious as you might think. At The Animalife Veterinary Center, we know that emergencies generally follow their own rules. They can happen anywhere at any time. Therefore you should always feel comfortable letting us know when urgency is required--our team will be prepared to receive you and care for your pet. What Signifies an Emergency Situation?

  • Labored breathing

  • Choking

  • Hasn't had water or food in 24 hours

  • Seems to be in pain

  • Broken bones

  • Seizure

  • Hard, bloated abdomen

  • Unable to stand and/or walk

  • Collapse

  • Ingestion of a toxic substance

  • Pale gums

  • Bite wounds, lacerations, and other injuries

  • Foaming at the mouth

  • Sitting with head pressed against the wall

  • Uncontrolled diarrhea and vomiting
